Today was the final round of the tumultuous and exciting Airthings Masters online chess tournament, and in so doing became the first player guaranteed a place in the four-player Chess Champion Tour that will take place in September 2021.

Radjabov was born in Baku, Azerbaijan in 1987 and came to international prominence in the early 2000s when he became a grandmaster in 2001, and defeated Garry Kasparov, Vishwanathan Anand and Ruslan Ponomariov in 2003. At the height of his career, Radjabov was the fourth strongest player on earth.

Radjabov defeated Levon Aronian to win the Airthings Masters in great style. The quarterfinal round saw the stunning elimination of Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura, Wesley So and Ian Nepomniachtchi.
