Summer Chess Camps – Online!

Hello Chess Enthusiasts!

We’ve taken your suggestions and improved on the great success we had with last year’s Summer Camps, as well as our Winter and Spring Break Camps, to deliver the best experience possible for your children.

We are very excited to announce our slate of Summer Chess Camps for July and August 2021!

CIC Live Online Chess Camps bring a small group of children together for online chess lessons, activities and chess games. CIC Chess to Life Instructors use video conference technology to provide an engaging, interactive experience where chess skills are developed while facilitating insights and building life skills such as decision making, goal setting, emotional intelligence, and respect for others. No physical chess sets are required.

Full instructions and links will be emailed to registered students on the Sunday night before the class, as well as one hour before the class.

Camps are divided by level – see our descriptions of the different levels, or sign up for a free evaluation session to help you choose.

Little Squires / Rookie Rooks

Christopher and Nathan are putting together weeks of fun for beginner chess players.

“Little Squires” camps are for children in senior kindergarten and grade one eager to learn the game of chess from the very beginning. They will have a ball making friends in group activities as they learn to name the pieces and move them about the board. One week in this camp and your little one will be ready for Rookie Rooks!

The “Rookie Rooks” Camps offer a fun, interactive week for kindergarteners, grade ones, and grade twos who want to become more comfortable with how the pieces move and how to get a checkmate. Camp sessions run for 60 minutes, Monday to Friday. Each week has new lessons, activities, and games, so sign up for one week, a few weeks, or all nine weeks!

Noble Knights

Peter, David and Sebastien are putting together a series of fun, interactive weeks of chess for intermediate “Noble Knights” players from grades one to six. If your young chess enthusiast can already play to checkmate, but isn’t yet ready for advanced tactical stratagems, this is the camp for them! It provides a changing array of chess lessons, puzzles, activities, and game play designed to challenge and entertain.

Campers will break into smaller groups for lessons and activities, and then join a daily fun arena tournament to play games with all our Noble Knights campers that week. If you have instructor preferences for the small-group session, you can indicate them during registration, but we can’t guarantee that we will be able to accommodate all choices, as the number of instructors assigned to a given week will depend on registration, and we will be seeking to introduce new instructors and guests some of the days for more variety and fun!

Camp sessions run from 1:00-2:00pm ET, Monday through Friday, culminating in an optional CFC-rated tournament on Friday from 1:00-4:30pm ET for more serious players. Each week has new lessons, activities, and games, so sign up for one week, a few weeks, or all nine weeks!

Future Masters

Nick, Keith, Terry, and Mo are organizing a longer, more advanced chess camp for advanced “Future Masters” from grades three to eight. If your young chess enthusiast is ready for longer lessons on more advanced tactical stratagems, this is the camp for them! It provides a changing array of chess lessons, puzzles, activities, and game play designed to challenge and entertain.

Camp sessions run from 2:30-4:00pm ET, Monday through Friday, culminating in an optional CFC-rated tournament on Friday from 1:00-4:30pm ET for more serious players. Each week has new lessons, activities, and games, so sign up for one week, a few weeks, or all nine weeks!

Campers will break into smaller groups for lessons and activities, and then join a daily fun arena tournament to play games with all our Future Masters campers that week!

In addition to running our Camps all Summer long on a week-by-week basis for our keen students, we will also continue to run some of our regularly scheduled weekly clubs in the summer.

Remember to book your spot early and beat the rush as space is limited!
