Summer Chess Camps!

Summer is coming, and with it comes online summer chess camps and tournaments!

All summer long, CIC will be running a series of fun, educational chess camps for young players of all ages and skill levels.

Our Little Squires program is appropriate for very young people who are just taking their first steps into the game.

In Rookie Rooks, campers build on their basic knowledge of the moves and the rules, learning the fundamentals of strategy, tactics, and checkmate.

Campers in our Noble Knights programs will learn more advanced tactical ideas, opening and endgame principles, study some famous instructive chess games, and have a lot of fun playing with other campers.

In Future Masters, our most experienced campers will explore advanced tactical and strategic ideas, analyze master games (and their own games) and play chess daily, led by our most experienced instructors.

On Fridays throughout the summer our higher-level camps switch over to officially-rated Swiss tournament format. These fun, challenging tournaments are appropriate for more experienced players interested in testing their abilities. Because these tournaments are rated by the Chess Federation of Canada, they’re a great opportunity for young chess players to take their first steps into the wider world of chess.

From complete beginners to experienced players who want some tournament fun as well, CIC has something for everyone. Choose one of our convenient 60 or 90 minute timeslots and give the young chess enthusiast in your family the opportunity to learn and play chess every day! (Join for one week or all nine weeks of summer!)

Our 2022 March Break camps were a great success. Here are some testimonials from students and parents:

"Thank you for a great program. This was Lincoln's first time competing and he had a great time!"

"The thing I love most about Chess Institute is the instructors."
