We are excited to announce the dates for 2022’s National Chess Camp.
Now in its fifteenth year, National Chess Camp was founded by Ted Winick, founder of Chess Institute of Canada. National Chess Camp is week long overnight camp associated with National Music Camp. It is held annually in late August on the shores of Lake Couchiching northeast of Orillia.
Campers receive four hours of chess instruction and play daily, taught by FM Goran Milicevic, WIM Natalia Khoudgarian (eight-time Canadian Women’s Chess Champion), and CIC’s own Keith Denning. All are accomplished chess instructors and coaches, and campers receive fun and challenging lessons and game play appropriate to their level.
In addition, campers enjoy all of the amenities and activities available at the camp, including waterskiing, swimming, tennis, baseball, arts and crafts, basketball, archery, zip lining and much more. Every evening campers enjoy a short concert performed by the faculty and campers of National Music Camp.
This year, as last year, both the Junior Division and Senior Division will happen in the same week, from Sunday August 20th to Sunday August 27th.
